Chapter Sixteen

Alys stared up into the shadows, her hand resting on her mound. She was sore—an exquisite soreness that made her throb every time she thought about it.

Gideon had taken her only once, keeping her on his lap while teaching her how to ride him. He’d stared up at her, his blue eyes dark with lust, his full lips parted and smiling, so beautiful it made her heart ache.

“You see, my love,” he’d gasped in between savage thrusts. “There is something to be said for riding astride. Now,” his jaw hardened and his nostrils flared, “Ride me to a lather.”

Alys had to admit she’d enjoyed the vantage point and being in control of their rhythm—at least to a degree. He’d not been a passive partner but had exhibited breathtaking strength as he’d thrust upward into her, every line and curve of his body hard and taut.

He’d made his pleasure obvious when he’d spent in her. “I love filling you with my seed,” he’d snarled in her ear while he pumped inside her. “I going to fuck you every chance I get, little one. I won’t be happy until you’re swollen with my child.”

Alys had climaxed when he’d said that, crying out and thrashing with abandon—just as he’d told her to do.

“I want you to scream the new roof off the house, Alys. Passion is nothing to be ashamed of and this is your house, if the servants don’t like it they can bloody well plug their ears.”

Lord, had this really been only their second night? Alys felt as if she’d been in his thrall all her life. And there was no denying she was captivated, pitifully so.

He’d fingered her to orgasm three times while loving—no, while fucking—her, and that wasn’t counting the first time, before they’d had the conversation.

That’s what it was, she thought as she reached between her swollen lips, sucking in a harsh breath when she touched her raw bud: it was fucking. They’d have a marriage with plenty of fucking—at least until he tired of her—but never any love.

To say she’d been surprised by his offer was an understatement. But it hadn’t taken her long to see the wisdom of such a union, and not just because she might already be quickening. First and foremost, she was sure he’d asked her because he was lazy. Yes, lazy. Why put himself out when he could have Alys with no effort?

She wasn’t vain, but she knew it wouldn’t be a terrible hardship for him. After all, she was not uncomely. At almost twenty-six she was well past her prime, but she was not too terribly old, and she knew how to run this household and the people liked her. And then there was the fact she did what he told her to do: she was obedient. He could have whatever he wanted, do whatever he wanted, and she’d already agreed to accept it.

Thanks to growing up in her father’s household and being married to Sebastian for eight years Alys was already pre-trained for the position of obedient wife.
